Statement of Intent

Draft Statement of Intent:

The concept of my NEA Music Video is that it will be in a massive space where I will have people hidden and visible throughout the whole music video, With signs and Hip-Hop dancing from a crew of people, also artifacts such as skateboard’s. My music Video will fit into the genre Hip-Hop which is a style of popular music of US black and Hispanic origin, featuring rap with an electronic backing. My concept of “This is America” would attract two different types of audiences, people who mainly listen to Urban music and dress very urban  will be the main audience behind this music video. Mainly people who dress with a tracksuit and people who are stylish would be the main audience, I will use a former Dance Crew called GY Dance that will simulate Hip-Hop dances around me as I mime and dance. This Dance crew will suit the audience because they will be wearing the set style of dress code whether that is wearing a tracksuit or stylish clothing, both will be invited when i’m recording this Music Video. The use of Mise-en-scene in my Music video will include Someone walking on with a gun that wont be used. Skateboards, Bike stunts, Signs with Current World problems. Posters. The representations that are produced by the current Mise-en-scene. Would be around the current Black lives matter and the mixture of ethnicity. These representations will attract the audiences that will watch and enjoy my Music video. The posters, and signs would be the main attraction of the people who dress with Tracksuits. The editing and filming of this music video will be dynamic because of how I will use the space of the set and the outside of the set in the music video to interest the audience. I will also through the use of the probs and people in the music video be able to create a very colourful environment on set. The editing on the video would be a concept of other Hip-Hop genre music videos because I would get a feel for both the Hip-Hop Rap and Hip-Hop Dance when choosing how to film and the way i film the music video. The other aspects of the video that have not been covered because of unconfirmed ideas will be proposed soon, such as different types and angles of shots during the music video. Also the different types of lighting have been found but also have to be confirmed by the department I’m using. Other things such as SFX will be decided soon. The website will be very Urban in style which will attract the type of audience that i am aiming to attract from this music video. The Visual Hooks that will attract the audience to my website will be the Masthead along with the other main featuring titles on the website. The website will resemble the main features of the original website for RCA Records. Other main hooks that will attract the audience will be the links that will take you to the music video as well as a detailed description of the music video.

The way that I will use Images, Colours, logos and Typefaces across the two different types of media from website to Music video, will be through things that will appear in the Music video such as posters, skateboards and much much more that will light up the screen with Hip-Hop. When looking at this concept of “This is America” you could think, Remix. Which would be true when saying that we are changing up things from the original. I will use social media to produce synergy between this product and the audience. This will be good because of how the audience will become actively involved with the production of this music video.
